Mas Mascaros is located in the unique and stunning vollage of Ullastret, in the heart of the Baix Emporda. Ullastret has a population of fewer than 300 and the locals, many of whom have lived here for generations, are proud of their village and its unique character and appeal. Many families from Barcelona own holiday and weekend properties here, too, where they come to escape from the city and bask in the tranquility of the best the Emporda region has to offer.
The small local store is a delight offering a chance to meet the locals as well as stock up on all your essentials and to try some local produce as Bottifarra – the Catalan speciality sausage and locally baked Iberian bread. The 3 local restaurants offer superb high quality traditional Iberian cooking sourcing all produce locally, and offer excellent local wines.
The nearest railway station is Flaça, a mere 10km away, which provides easy access to Girona (10 mins), Barcelona (1 1/2 hours) and the French border (30 mins).
Ullastret is at the centre of what is locally regarded (and refered to in several articles including The Guardian) as the Golden Triangle. For exact location and driving directions, click here.
This triangle has as its points the medieval villages of Pals, Peratallada and Ullastret.
The golden beaches of the Costa Brava at L'Estartit, Aqua Brava and Calella de Palafrugell are about 15 minutes away while the Championship PGA Golf Courses of Emporda and Pals are about 10 minutes away.
